What is a Birth Doula?
This is by far the most commonly asked question I receive! And understandably so since having a doula as part of your birth team is not a common practice in our culture.
A birth or labor doula is an individual who offers physical, emotional, often spiritual, and educational support to mamas and growing families during their prenatal, delivery/birth, and postpartum journeys toward becoming parents. This can come in many different forms, depending upon the doula, but it usually includes several prenatal meetings during the mama's pregnancy, continuous care for mama and partner during the delivery and birth of the baby, and check-ins during the immediate postpartum period to ensure all parties are being properly taken care of.
I look forward to serving you and your family!
***At the time, I am currently unable to take new doula clients due to my own pregnancy.***
Please feel free to reach out if you would like referrals for other amazing doulas in Orange County.

Suggestions for valuable local resources
I have access to a large network of birth workers across Orange County and am able to offer multiple referrals for the most common pregnancy, birth, and postpartum requests.
On-call 24/7 starting 2 weeks before estimated due date, ready to join you at your home or your birthing place, day or night
I will never be more than 2 hours away from your home or birth place so that I can come to your assistance once labor has begun.
Backup doula in case of emergencies
You will be given the opportunity to meet my backup doula at our final prenatal meeting to ensure you feel comfortable with the doula who may have to fill in for me temporarily or for the entire birth in the case of an unforeseen emergency.
Support in providing a safe, peaceful, and calm environment for mama and partner to gently welcome their child in to the world
Nothing is more important than your comfort and ease during labor. As Ina May Gaskin stated, "If a woman doesn't look like a goddess during birth, then someone isn't treating her right!"
Assistance with different labor positions and options
Despite what the movies may show, there is more to labor and delivery than simply laying on your back. I provide different tools and options for your comfort and power during your birth. You ALWAYS have options for how you want to bring your child in to the world!
1-2 Postpartum visits
After your birth, my support will continue. For these visits, I will meet with you:
- Within 24 hours of delivery at place of birth OR 1 week after birth at your home
- If extra assistance is needed, I am happy to offer referrals
